Aeros’ season fades away

I won free passes to the Houston Aeros playoff hockey game when I called into the Steven Kay Show on AM 700 KSEV. Mike Wright agreed to go along and we headed out to the game. The situation: the Aeros were down in the best-of-seven series 3-1 to the Chicago Wolves. This was a must-win game. It was non-stop, crash-the-boards excitement as the Aeros rolled up an early 3-1 lead.

The hopes of the Aeros’ faithful were dashed like their team against the boards as the Wolves proceeded to not only come back, but rolled to a 5-3 victory. The season ended on a sour note, but the event was fun throughout. From the national anthem performed by the ONLY school in the United States named after a child *, to the raucous fans screaming all manner of inane and often confusing comments toward the refs **, it was a blast. Thanks Steven, and thanks Aeros for a fine season.

*
I forgot the name of the school, but it was named after the Bubble Boy (made famous by the John Travolta movie.)

**
“Your mom is a hooker too” – when an opponent was guilty of hooking.
“Dumbest land mammal ever, the orange banded zebra” – in reference to the head referee wearing orange bands on his arms.
