Wow, I listened to quite a few podcasts over the long weekend. The training I have been doing on the bike has given me a lot of time to listen and I have heard some good, some bad, and some downright strange.
Warcraft World – great idea for content as this game is IMMENSELY popular. The content right now is pretty much crap. The production quality is pretty much crap. The host’s radio presence right now is pretty much crap. I would normally give this show the benefit of the doubt, but he has been doing it for a couple months now, so you think he would have found his voice by now. He spends more time begging for hosting and forum help than talking about Warcraft. It sounds like he has some great potential and once he connects with some other folks, the show should be pretty good.

bicyclemark – This one pissed me off mainly because I thought it was about bicycling. Apparently that is his penname and has nothing to do with the show. It is a weekly rant from an American living in Europe and basically railing against American politics. I found the episode where he explored “what it means to be a man” hugely entertaining. He was trying to make some point that his type of man is a “real” man and that traditional tough guys are stupid. He asked his female guest her take and she basically said that tough guys are great and that he had some insecurity issues. Haha – sweet.

Whack My Bush – This is a dramatized (comedy) show about George Bush and his contemporaries. The acting is decent, but nothing stellar – the scripts are decent, but nothing stellar… the show is pretty boring a few minutes in. Personally, I don’t listen to podcasts for pre-scripted comedy productions… that may be your deal – just not mine.

Trade Secrets Radio – This show with Dave Winer and Adam Curry appears to be about the nuts and bolts behind the scene of podcasting. They ramble quite a bit and get off on political rants etc. – but for the most part, the show is full of useful information. I love the information and the banter isn’t distracting.

Hi. I’m one of the hosts of Vox Monitor, the Podcast Review Podcast. Think of it like Siskel and Ebert, but for podcasting. We play clips of the podcasts we review and discuss the merits of the shows.
I thought that perhaps your readers – the ones who read about which podcasts are good or bad, might find our service to be of use. We review on demand. Just email me, and you’ll usually be reviewed within two weeks.
We review any kind of podcast from beginners just starting out to the Daily Source Code. (We reviewed it in episode 29).
Also, I wonder if you might review our show? I’ll be happy with any feedback you have, good or bad, 0 microphones or 100 microphones.
thanks,
Eric
