Cajuns with a bite

I am seriously digging HBO’s new drama TRUEBLOOD.  Think of it as the ‘redneck vampire comedy tour.’  The writing is extremely witty and laugh-out-loud funny at times, while the action and drama are interesting enough to keep you leaning forward in your easy chair.  These Louisiana vampires are nothing like the Anne Rice breed.  One [...]

A new level of sweat

You know I have never been afraid of doing some yardwork, but that took on a whole new meaning this weekend. I spent the last two days cleaning up from Ike and using the excuse to just cleanup in general around my backyard. With the help of my excellent neighbors, I got all of the [...]

I understand why they do it… but still.

I find it interesting how all the commercial areas of my part of Houston got up and running extremely fast. If it was a place that had something for sale, power was restored right away. After that, it seemed that the “high dollar” parts of town got their power restored. I guess us “po folks” [...]

Outages in my area expected to last until Monday

According to the Centerpoint Energy website, the zip code where my house in Houston is sitting has 55% outage right now and is not expected to come back up until Monday.  The website has some very useful maps and links if you or someone you know is in an affected area.

I know you have seen it, but I did this for me

Tina Fey’s representation of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for the premiere of Saturday Night Live’s new season was so freakin’ hilarious. I originally missed it because although I do TiVo new episodes of SNL, all of Houston’s regular programming was preempted by Hurricane Ike reporting. As a result I had both SNL and [...]

I am seriously digging this weather

Again, the best of wishes go out to everyone in the South Central Texas region dealing with the after effects of Hurricane Ike, but I have to tell you – things here are amazing.  The past week I have woke up to temperatures in the low 60′s and tonight it is supposed to drop down [...]

Hell of a bad movie

What would you say to a Quentin Tarantino backed film starring Dennis Hopper, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, dozens of gorgeous women, and a pitch line like “Easy Rider meets Pulp Fiction?”  Most people would say this is going to be a hit.  I guess thats what Hell Ride investors thought.  Wow…  this film is groundbreaking!  [...]

Ike, Ike, Baby!

I have gotten several emails, twitters, etc. from friends around the country wondering how I weathered (pun intended) Hurrican Ike.  A lot of them had no clue that I have relocated from Houston to San Marcos, but some that were well aware of it just heard “hurricane hits Texas” and figured that means we are [...]

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

Ginger is once again staying with us while her parents abandon her for their jet-setting lifestyle (this time to Vegas) haha.  She wasted no time in making friends with some of the local hotties.  Hey, I know – she’s a she but its all good. Hmm…  I may have to bring Lou up to the [...]
