Welcome to your CMO Report
As your virtual Chief Marketing Officer, I bring you the absolute best information about marketing your business. This time I am just writing to let you know about a couple of great freebies this coming Tuesday, December 11th!
1 – Social Media gets smarter. The last few years have been all about needing to get your message on social media… getting out there was more important than the actual message. If you attended any of my Lunch & Learn series this year, you have seen that this is changing. Rather than trying to be everywhere, now is the time to find the best social media outlets for your business and crafting the message that best fits that audience.
2 – Simplicity will dominate. Rather than trying to out-wow your competition, in 2013 the most successful marketing strategies will be ones that are not only simple in nature, but promote goods and services that serve to simplify the consumer’s life, or even just their customer experience. Think about ways you can make your customers’ lives easier and you have a winner.
3 – Mobile is far from its peak. Last year, more people purchased smartphones than PCs. Seriously. While it feels like we hear the word “mobile” more than our own names these days, global marketers haven’t entirely caught up; 90% of them have a mobile site, but only 20% include mobile strategies as a fully integrated part of their overall marketing plan. If nothing else on this list comes to fruition, count on “mobile” being a bigger, bolder line item on every major marketer’s strategy this year.
