I’ve long been a fan of Morgan Spurlock. Sure, he is not the best documentary maker ever. Sure, he takes some huuuuge stretches with his logic at times. At the end of the day though, Spurlock makes some interesting stuff.
His film, The Greatest Movie Ever SOLD is very interesting to me both as a fan of documentaries as well as a marketing professional. I love how it tells the story of product placement by financing the production with product placement. I have to admit, the other reason I found the film timely and important for me is my home building venture LittleTexasCottage.com.
As a film, it is classic Spurlock and as entertainment, it is enjoyable. As an education into the world of product placement, it has some tidbits of information I found very useful, but overall there was not much fresh insight. I congratulate Mr. Spurlock for being able to continue to get funding for his projects – he is a great pitch man. I also like the film.
And you know what? There is one product I actually want to try now POM Wonderful, and a few more that I actually feel are a bit cooler for having participated in the film.
