The second of our movie a double-header the other day was The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The previews made it look like a inspirational film about getting out there and just doing it! The previews made it look like you would leave the theatre motivated to make something happen. The movie made it look like an uplifting, entertaining time…. you know what? It DID and it WAS!
Ben Stiller knocked it out of the park as the lead character and director. The story delivered on all fronts and was even more uplifting, more motivational, more inspirational and more entertaining than I expected. Kristen Wiig did a great job in her supporting role and continues to show that she is a very talented actress.
I made the mistake of reading some review ahead of time (which I try to never do) and there were a lot of harsh comments. That is why I don’t read reviews – frankly, most of the movie going public would rather see another Anchorman than something with some real substance.
Now I want to go back and watch the 1947 original of The Secret Live of Walter Mitty to see how much different the story is.
