Originally, I felt the same way about Hummer and yes, my first impulse here was to be upset that McHugh got the gig. I decided to try and be optimistic about it and see what happens.

Now, a week into his first season, I am with you. He leaves Bobke looking perplexed half the time and he looks and sounds like every other news magazine pundit. Pretty weak juju.

Seriously? Liam McHugh doesn't hold a candle to Craig Hummer. I have no idea how he got the job. He's a decent speaker but is so boring. He lacks any experience. It's not that he's young but he's never been a rider. He looks like he won a prize and that's how he got the job. He's a serious ass kisser and looks like he's scared that Phil or Paul will say something to catch him off guard. He never has an interesting response or decent banter. Bob Roll who is hilarious and opinionated has nothing to say because Liam has no idea how to make any kind of give-take banter. He could never commentate the actual race. What a shame. Who the hell did Craig Hummer piss off to get relagated to "field reporter"? Too bad. The Tour sucks now that NBC got a hold of it. Thanks you corporate NBC punks.

Hey Chris --

I have noticed the same thing about tastes changing. As I've eliminated "bad" things from my diet over the years I no longer even wanted them after a while, and instead I get hungry for the "good" things I've replaced them with. Maybe we're designed to want the things that we normally eat? I knew I'd turned a corner when coca-cola no longer interested me (after a pretty solid decades-long habit), and one day I chose Sun Chips over Fritos because they were what I was hungry for, not because I knew they were less bad for me.

I enjoy your blog,

Very similar to the last chapter of Marly and Me. You made me cry again. I am so sorry for your loss but would you have given up all the love and joy he brought you, rather than go through the pain of losing him? I think not. Love you, Mom

By the way, when I go, don't mourn me, because I'll be going to a better place.

And know that you will be with Sam again when you cross the Rainbow Bridge. If you're not familiar with that, look it up.

Hey Chris-

was surfing Margaret Durante because I recently heard her newest song Mississippi's Crying here in Baltimore (WPOC). You have to hear this one. While I agree that KOL does Use Somebody better, Durante's version of the song from my take was ver special and when i heard this latest...well you just have to listen to the new one.

BTW-do like your reviews.

See now if I was giving you movies, I would have censored all those horrible movies. Ha Ha

Something about #3 disturbs me so not that one. #1 and #4 are my favorite. It's funny, but I have contacts that do it both ways. I have some that NEVER change so I always know who they are. And then I have others that change all the time and it is just expected of them. I will say though that usually when they change they change everywhere. It is a little strange to see different icons scattered all over the places.

Hey retard (Tony) it wasn't my press release. It was my stepdaughter's name in the paper. I put a link to her being in the paper - I am not that petty. I would link to anyplace that posted it - to think that it mattered who was in competition with who mattered is very short-sighted and petty.

And by the way, Newstreamz (San Marcos Local News) is and always will be, my baby.

I enjoyed Avatar's story more on the second viewing. I remembered that Cameron always seems to have an evil corporation in it. He seems to subscribe to the dystopian corporate takeover viewpoint of the future. Of course it was gorgeous. After a few minutes The 3D melted away as a trick and just added depth to the story, literally.

Sherlock Holmes was fun. I liked the setup for the fight scenes where you see how fast he plans out his attack and then the extremely quick execution of said plan. I did think it drug in a few places, although not terribly so. Rachel McAdams is cute, but I don't think she is strong enough to hold her own against RDJ's Holmes. She seems too young for the part.

What is charmed is your outlook. When you see life as an adventure and not a chore you have to get through, life seems to respond with some good and some not so good. If you accept it all with the indomitable good spirits of a Chris Doelle- well, you can call it charmed but I call it well-directed. Let life happen and keep a good thought...the other choices drain your energy.
You've got a truly happy balance.
And I'm not just saying that because I'm your #1 stalker and the Stalker union rules say we have to.

Congratulations Chris. This is a great accomplishment. Your paragraph about finding happiness gives me such hope. A personal inner happiness is my goal and I do believe that feeling better about myself and exercising regularly is the key. I just bought a bike a few weeks ago and while I'm no where near riding what you do I love getting on it and it is the most consistent I have ever been with any form of exercise. Keep it up because you are a role model.

This is a great discussion with your Mom. I've also been winning people over who have been hesitant to jump in. They are often hesitant to follow the advice of a geek, so when somebody else tells them, they try it. Then they come back and tell me they should have listened to me sooner.

I still need some help coming up with a suitable self-reward for reaching 200 pounds.

How about a Golden Coral Celebration Spectacular !!!!!!

HaHa...Thats great you should do the football speech that Pacino did in "Any Given Sunday" but instead of inch by inch....ounce by ounce!

Okay, I dug in a bit further and it appears my accusation was a bit premature. I couldn't find my Wall and thought they had done away with it entirely in favor of the twitter-type feed. I see they are just replacing the old feed. From that point of view, I like it. My apologies, facebook.

I whole-heartily agree with you. Although I was a fan of the graphic novel, the frames, and dialogue were taken word for word, and scene for scene 99% of the time. They did change "1" thing, but that's it. Was it necessary? Probably not, but Zack Snyder showed the story quite a bit of care, Alan Moore(the novel's writer) should be proud. So, two-thumbs up here as well.

That's awesome. For the past couple of months, I would go to my brother's music academy and wait while he got done with his classes, so I decided that I may as well take a class while I was there. I've learned quite a bit pretty fast. If you are interested, the class is on Mondays at 6 p.m. and you can call him at 512-353-2007. He's also available for private lessons. Anyway, aside from the plug for lessons, I also finally bought a guitar so that I could take it home and practice now. Looks like you and I both have this and the fitness stuff in common now. Good luck.

Her sister is really a wild one. Brooke is okay, but should not let that sis ruin her. I agree that Crystel is a beautiful young woman, but so is Brooke Daniels. Sometimes a family can really destroy a person, and it is not Brooke's fault.

"These ideologies both are fraught with tortuous stupidity and short-sightedness"

Like the stupidity and shortsightedness of compressing the political spectrum into binary opposites and dismissing them with ad hominem abusive?

It must be nice to be above the fray.

I am totally stoked about having a new fast food place in San Marcos, drove by yesterday night as well out of curiosity of all the cars around there and it looked like it was just a meeting again. If you learn anything else about when it's opening keep us posted.

I've had allergies and sinus problems my whole life, and I can tell you - washing my nose is NOT snorting water in the shower! Just like brushing my teeth is NOT swishing and spitting water out of my mouth. I use that Nasopure bottle and their stuff, and since I've been doing this nasal wash thing every time I brush my teeth (it's just part of the daily self-care regime) I have had only a rare sinus infection. And it does feel good. Gets that snot out that the nose-blow just can't clear. My nose problems get worse in the spring - I ride a Harley - and the pollen was rushing up there at 60mph - you should SEE what I get out if I wash right after a ride! Neti is ridiculous - I have to pretty much stand on my head to get it to go through, and it feels really wimpy. So I like my Nasopure bottle. Maybe because I'm a control freak...I don't know. Anyway, it lets me keep riding - and I LIVE TO RIDE! Go Nasopure! And I say go wash your nose in the shower like a man....boogers in the nose are so NOT sexy.

Wow...this is a cast of people I don't want to associate with G.I. Joe. Most are good actors, just not the action type that I would want to see in the genre. Poor choices. I bet its a flop!

C-Dogg... on this rare instance of me visiting thou blog... this one is by far an interesting one... currently suffering a mild cold not flu, this might be a good habit to start (i don't know if that is a bit extreme) but with all the allergens floating around a clean honker sure helps.

Dr. Solomon... I am a CPAP user. Would you recommend this to someone like me?

Few points to share:
Nasopure is not just salt and baking soda, but rather pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. Yes, on the surface, these compounds are similar to what is purchased at the grocery store but if one were to compare the 2 substances visually and chemically, as i have the following are found. Nasopure mix is very fine granules, powder-like which dissolves completely, feels 'smoother' and is free of any trace minerals or other compounds.
Try the difference, compare the washing.
My second point is this. The dizziness you experienced during the second washing side is most like due to the way you were holding the bottle. I bet you were pointing it upward rather than along the nasal floor as directed and illustrated. This encourages to sinuses to get flooded and can cause a temporary ' what is that feeling'. I know this because we humans hold things differently in each hand (when not held correctly). Occasionally, the user uses too much force either during washing or during blowing the nose. these can contribute to that dizziness.
I have found, those who think 'I'll squeeze harder' or 'I'll blow my nose more forcefully' often have a less pleasant experience. Gentle, slowly, and daily. that is the way to stay well.
I look forward to your feedback. Dr Hana

The common wisdom behind nasal cleansing is simple, clean the body’s filter, it is our great defender. The nasal cavity’s cilia filter the impurities and irritants: pollen, mold, dust, viruses, bacteria, smoke, pollution and chemicals. Exposure to these irritants cause blockage, back-up and infections. Daily cleansing of the nose maintains quality of life, decreases medication use and reduces doctor visits. Nasal washing offers numerous benefits, including reduction of allergy problems, improved breathing, and elimination of post-nasal drip, sinusitis AND reduced incidence of the common cold. Many have experienced an improved sense of smell and taste and deeper, more relaxed breathing, snoring is reduced, improved sleep quality, avoidance of surgery for ear tubes and sinus and even asthma is best controlled when the nose is maintained clean.

Practitioners of yoga have used “Neti,” for centuries. There have been many design improvements over the neti, mostly because consumers are demanding a better system. As a teacher of neti for years, I used feedback and personal medication experience to develop a child friendly modern nose wash. The overall goal is to have a flow of warm buffered saline water inserted into one nostril and exit the opposite one. The water drains out, flushing the nasal passages thoroughly. The Neti offers a gravity controlled flow while Nasopure offers user control of pressure and flow. If the solution flow is well controlled, it draws out the mucus from the sinus cavities, flushing them clean.

There are many nasal wash products available THE modern neti is Nasopure, comes with premixed hypertonic buffered saline packets. Nasopure can do NO HARM when used as directed yet offers convenience, compliance and more importantly, the most effective nose wash available due to the design. Nasopure offers gentle positive pressure guided by the user which results in a plunging of the sinus and inner ear cavities. Some may be misguided and believe that positive pressure nose washes can cause harm. This is akin to believing that a toothbrush shouldn’t be used because it can cause harm to your gums. A toothbrush, just like anything else can cause harm if misused. You could develop bleeding gums when brushing too hard.

Dr. Hana has 20 plus years of teaching patients about nasal irrigation. She has lectured on the subject. She is the ‘experts expert’ on nasal washing. Nasopure IS safe for anyone over the age of 2 when used as directed. Nasopure is the ONLY system that delivers the solution along the nasal floor, same path as the air we breathe. All other systems flush or dribble into the sinuses. Ideal nose washing does NOT wash the dirt from the nasal passages INTO the sinuses. Over 100,000 users, both young and old have reported how effective and gentle Nasopure is.

Occasionally, a single opinion is printed and hence, misinformation is perpetuated. We at Nasopure wish to ‘clear the air’ regarding nasal washing systems. Any washing is better than no washing but offering safety, convenience and effectiveness is our goal.
Others agree with us. Nasopure Nasal Wash was mentioned in Women’s World, Health Magazine, LA Family Magazine, Good Housekeeping, and Parents Magazine as the nose wash of choice!
Check it out and be well, Dr Hana

I've been itching to go for a ride myself. The other day, I took the bike out and aired up the tires. I got distracted by other stuff and missed my chance. I think I'll give it a whirl this week.

Doesn't it suck when you're trying to eat healthy and something like a bag of cheetos comes along and messes you up. I'm in the same boat. About 2 years ago I started noticing that the things I ate were actually starting to affect my waistline. I used to be blessed somehow and for the longest time, I would eat anything I wanted and still not be able to break 200 lbs. Then all of a sudden things changed. I used to eat a candy bar a day, at least 3 sodas, pizza, hamburgers, whatever but I started gaining weight. I ended up going from not being able to break 200 to gaining up to 244 lbs. and then a lightbulb went on and I realized that I had to change my lifestyle a bit and my eating habits if I wanted to change things. We have diabetes in my family. My grandparents had it, my dad had it and my mom has it. I saw what my dad went through, having to give himself insulin shots every day and wanted no part of that, so I talked to my doctor a bit and we came up with a diet that limited or excluded a lot of things I was used. For the most part, I limit carbs and sugar. If I want bread, it's got to be whole grain or whole wheat. For drinks, I try to stick to just tea, water or 100% fruit juice. For lunch, I try to eat salads at least 3 times a week. Italian used to be my favorite, but because of the carbs, I have to exclude the pasta. Things like chips, candy bars, ice cream etc.. are all gone. I've gotta tell you, it has not been easy but now I'm just used to it. People always feel bad when they eat stuff like that in front of me, but it doesn't even faze me. Don't get me wrong though, once in a while I have weak moments. I had not had pizza in forever and that was one of my favorite things (I used to be able to take down an entire medium pepperoni lovers thin & crispy) so for my birthday I told my family I wanted to go to pizza hut, but would go back on my diet the day after. As you probably know, it takes more than just dieting so now I also play basketball for a 2 hours once a week and one thing that has helped me more than I expected is if I find myself in my living room just sitting and watching tv or something, during the commercials I'll do something simple like crunches or pushups. Anyway, I'm now wavering around 130. I'm trying to get down at least 10 more lbs. but I've learned that continuing to eat healthy and exercise as much as I do only helps to maintain my weight now and I have to get in more exercise and try to reduce any weak moments to continue to lose. BTW, my brother who had worse eating habits and total lack of exercise made the same choice I did not too long ago and he's probably lost 50-60 lbs. Anyway to make a long story...well, too late for that, keep doing what you're doing. It takes a lot, but I'm sure you're seeing results already. If not, keep with it, it's only a matter of time.

I've got a friend in New York who buys a case of this stuff any time he comes down. I believe they only sell it in Texas and he grew up on it, so he has to get his fix. I used to drink it a lot, but I've been trying to remove sodas from my diet for a while. I've probably had about 6 altogether in the last year and a half. It just took one conversation with a doctor when my mom was in the hospital about a year ago. My brother on the other hand has not had one in over two years.

Voting C-dogg for prez and the super hot mom for veep. folks remember you can write in who you want in.

Chris,
I too am a HUGE fan of Life on Mars. I've seen the pilot from the new ABC series and it's the same scripts as the BBC version.

Colm Meaney (Star Trek's Chief O'Brian) get to be Gene Hunt and does a mighty fine job in my opinion.

So glad to find out we have something else in common other than a love of great music.

The only thing close to a chance to change things is a long term approach... Vote out EVERYONE that holds office - do it for EVERY election for the next ten years. I don't care if it is the dog catcher, if you can vote on it - vote the suckers out.

Then, maybe - we might get some people in the office that remember they are PUBLIC servants, not big business lapdogs.

I got you and definitely empathize with your situation. In the end, nothing that you or I say is going to change what happens. We (collectively) have been screwed over by everyone except the hard workers of the world like you and I.

I doubt that Wachovia is going away without the bailout package, although it will surely change names.

Nothing that you or I say about the bailout is going to change the outcome - but while my country gets dumped on, I am definitely going to do the only thing I can, which is bitch about it.

I don't drink kool-aid.
I work for Wachovia Securities, formerly A.G. Edwards, a division of Wachovia Corp. Been here for 19 years. I get to see first-hand how events affect the financial markets. No one is bailing me out. Most people who work for financial corporations are like me ~ just average, hard-working tax payers.
Now Citigroup and Wells Fargo are fighting over who gets Wachovia Corp. Whoopee... I need Dramamine to counteract this crazy-ass ride that has been this entire week. Without the bailout package (and no I haven't read, it, I've been working my ass off), I, like millions of others, might be out of a job soon. With or without the bailout, I'm paying... Without it, I'd lose my retirement and maybe my job.... With it, I'll be paying for it in taxes, same as you. I could be wrong, but I'd rather be wrong WITH my job than right WITHOUT it.

Like any of this crap matters anymore. The government just completed the biggest dump on America that it ever has. I feel so saved now. Both candidates voted for our precious bailout. No one is ever going to win an election at the national level that will actually be able to do something honest and good for the people. Dave angy...Dave smash...Dave sad...

The line-item veto is the absolute worst way to solve pork. It grants way too much power to a branch of government that already is exceeding the scope of the constitution.

If Congress can pass a bill that approves $700B plus in "emergency" spending, they can certainly pass one that stops lawmakers from adding earmarks to bills.

And don't give me any garbage about their being too many bills created then - that's the point - most of them are garbage and handouts to cronies.

These people who are supposed to work for us, put in far less work time than you or I do and make far more money. It won't hurt them to sit their asses at a desk and work more.

Yes, this is a horrible bill not just because it is NOT needed, but again it grants way too much power to someone who should not have it constitutionally. Have you read this bill? (even just the parts that pertain to this issue?)

I have never blamed any administration. It is the entire system that needs to be fixed and these band aids meant to heal their friends at the expense of the citizens are not how you fix the system.

Don't drink the kool-aid. This does nothing for a family trying to hold onto their home. It is welfare for corporations plain and simple.

No. On principle, you may think that the banks should sink or swim on their own without government intervention... And if it were 4 years ago, I might agree with you. However, it's too late, now... The bill has to pass (and it just did). And not just for Americans, but for the world economy. If banks aren't liquid, then they stop lending. People can't get loans for homes and cars. Businesses who typically use credit to make payroll (and believe me, there are a lot of them), start laying more people off. The jobless rate soars even higher. I admit all of the above is an over-simplification, but if it wasn't, my comments might be as lenghty as that novel-sized bill.

What is happening now has little to do with the current administration. Deregulation started under the Carter administration. Both Democrat and Republican administrations since then are guilty of pressuring Fannie and Freddie into handing out those crappy loans. And those "victims of predatory lenders" who signed on the dotted are just as guilty. Alan Greenspan warned the Senate Banking Committee about Fannie and Freddie back in 2004, but the Pubs and the Dems only took took his criticisms half-heartedly.

As for all the "pork," it's silly and wasteful.... but that's the way it will be done until an amendment is added to the Constitution to allow the POTUS line-item veto power.

Haha, I had an email about the nature of an "ass whitening" business... and have to clarify. No, I have never been to one. In fact, I had the terminology. It is more of a bleaching than a whitening process and from what I hear, it is popular with adult film stars.

Sorry if it left any lasting visuals that you would rather not have.

Thought you'd like it. I've always liked their brisket mostly, but sausage and ribs are also good. It used to be called Southwest Market and under different owner and the only thing I miss is the SW Market BBQ sauce. Woody's sauce is good, but southwest's as better. Hey but Woody's will give you wheat bread with your BBQ so I give them a point for that. Now you gotta get to Driftwood and try the Salt Lick.

For all of you who say dog fighting is okay. Go fuck yourself. You are disgusting. And you should be thrown in the ring with a pitbull with no type of weapon to defend yourself the dog should then rip you to shreds and you should die a slow painful death. And to the cock fighters out there you should be put to death by a million cocks. Just let them rip you apart. You are all sorry peices of shit if you think that fighting animals is okay. Its wrong and disgusting. My one year old has a pit and he is the nicest dog you will ever meet. You all deserve to rot in hell, which im sure you are well on your way. And he does not deserve to play football anymore. Unless its in a prison yard.

Hugh Downs is now peddling bogus health remedies on infomercials, direct from the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University. Given the money he's making selling schlock and blue sky, he's probably in no position to criticize Dateline about anything.

We had them in Toleo, Ohio apparently for a limited time also! We loved them and bought a whole bunch, but now can't seem to find them. I've even attempted to buy them on ebay...how pathetic I know.....but they are that good!! I got on the frito lay website, but apparently you can't buy them there either. We are sad. We found the barbecue ones in Knoxville TN, but they just didn't fill that spot. hohum.

I don't have a gmail account, but I've been getting more and more spam from gmailers these days. I used to put gmail on a pedestal, but spammers are going to dent gmail's reputation. I'm sure Google will be doing something to fight it.

Nice... I think I will avoid the site though because I don't want someone else affecting my opinion before I try things.

I do the same thing with movies... I make it a point to avoid any reports or reviews before I see a film.

Now suggestions from readers of new things to try are always welcome.

Yeah, especially when they even stole the to black girl comedians "Frangela" right from VH1's version to comment about the celebrity breakups.

I guess its so old people like Lawrence who don't watch VH1 will watch it.

I was surprised because I thought maybe VH1/Viacom was also owned by GE also. But thats not true. I guess NBC just ripped off VH1 and hired their commedians, "Frangela".

You are right in that it followed the legend well, the problem I had was how horribly it was written.

As a former high school English teacher, I taught Greek Mythology for almost thirty years. The myth of Hercules particulary fascinates me.

I thought this movie was very well done, and the actual plot was not that far off from the actual legend/myth. The special effects were not that bad either. No matter what, I enjoyed watching it, and I thought it was one of the better mythological movies I have seen.

I actually live in San Marcos and just did a search on them to see if anyone is still selling them. Cheesy Enchilada Cheetos are crazy good. I found them for the first time when I was visiting my family in Killeen, so obviously they were after the Army guys too...? Anyway, the bags all say Limited Time Only and we seem to have reached that fateful day. It's just not right.

Looks like botox in the upper lip. Her nose is definitely the same as always, and, in recent photos, it looks as if the botox is wearing off, not to be repeated, I pray. She's beginning to look liker herself again.

I haven't heard of that, but will expect it soon I would guess. As far as the additives, it does help some. I have done this in the past on some trips and get maybe an additional 2-3 miles to the gallon. I have no idea if the injector cleaner really does anything, but it seemed to help our car when it starts to sputter a bit. Probably just my imagination on both though...

It's a sure thing in life that people will always let you down. On the bright side it makes it all the more sweeter when someone does something right! I have *few* people in my life whom I trust and consider close friends. They have disappointed me from time to time. I'm comforted in knowing those same people will be there for me when the ca-ca hits the fan. I hope they feel the same way about me.

CoF,

Please do come back in the future and add to discourse. I would suggest that a civil discussion that doesn't start with the assumption that the person you are talking to is a "Fool," would be a better way to start.

You make some excellent points.

Dearest Chris

Last response I promise, just a few of corrections

1) I don't work for the company in question
2) I have no agenda
3) I am not a comment troll (excellent expression though :-)

I am simply responding to your original blog which I felt was making a poor argument/comment/opinion - aka I am enjoying my freedom of speech, just like you.

Isn't that why you have a blog? So you can express your emotions and thoughts and invite others to comment?

I don't tend to read blogs and have never bothered to respond before, but those few that I have read allow others to comment on what has been posted. It is uncommon for the originator to take umbridge and fire back messages of disagreement. But hey it's your blog - you set your own rules :-)

Anyways, you will be relieved to see I have added paragraphs and more relieved to hear I won't reply again. Heck! What's the point :-)

Anyways, enjoy your blog, enjoy your thoughts, enjoy sharing them with the world. But if you do, then expect others to want to comment back and don't take it so personally.

Happy Blogging!

p.s. of course 'Corrector of Fools' isn't my real name - but it was a good one though :-)

Michael, no worries on the length - it takes what it takes to make your point, and you did a good job of that.

I have found myself in similar situations, one of which was the reason for the post. It is sad to me that you can do things for the right reasons - to help someone, etc. and often that is overlooked or discounted.

I do think it is human nature to overlook the things that work well and focus on the ones that cause pain... because of this helpful people are often not publicly acknowledged, thanked, or even paid.

I learned after my company took a downturn following 9/11 that there were people giving lip service to being my friend and people who would take a bullet for me. My best friend from my college days, Davad Sneed, is one of those that would take a bullet - well, at least if I caught fire, he would knock me over and stomp it out - haha.

I also learned that it is easy to overlook pretenders when things are going great.

My philosophy now is to give people the benefit of the doubt and take them at their word, but make sure to protect myself. Ronald Reagan used to say, "Trust but verify."

Wow... Corrector of Fools (if that IS your real name - haha.) You ask me to 'rethink my argument if indeed I really have one." That is the point - I DON'T have an argument... I have an opinion. I won't be sucked into a stupid discussion by a comment troll with an obvious agenda.

Look, I don't care if the company is British - I don't care about your circular arguments on why I should love your beloved company.

I have an opinion and I have a forum. It may not seem like it at times, but we still do have freedom of speech in this country.

What happened to "live and let live?" Why the attacks? Why not get your own blog? (Blogger has them for free)

I am fine with even giving you 'this' forum to go off on whatever interests you. I just don't understand the vitriol.

Oh, and feel free to mix in a paragraph break every once in a while - it makes your opinion easier to read.

I am with you Steve... we all know countless excellent people. The question was more one of basic human nature. I have always felt that man, in general, is good. I have friends (good people) who believe that man, in general, is selfish, greedy, and mean.

At the time I was writing this post, I was seeing more and more cases pointing toward man as not good. The good news is that it hasn't shaken my basic beliefs. Just wondering what others believed.

Me blind? I don't think so - but why make such a crude comment? You anti blind people too?! But sadly Chris you were myopin in your argument and confused about what it was you were arguing about. Worse still is your rebuttle which is quite disturbingly self-absorbing. I guess it is your blog and as such you can say whatever you like. But a balanced argument might be more appropriate. On the subject of stock piling military equipment, without seeing the vehicles in question I would guess this is replenishment of the huge stock of military equipment being lost in your various campaigns across the globe - I know news in the USA is filtered still but I am sure there is sufficient info for you to all understand the huge cost of lost military equipment and more sadly life. If you are trying to argue that war is a bad thing and that such expenditure should stop then I agree subject to extraction in a sensible non-destabilising way. However, your original blog was making some points about loss of profit offshore, how bad it is being reliant on the Brits blah blah. This was a inaccurate picture as I think I pointed out before. As for US tax payer paying for these jobs. I guess that's true. However, your nation elects your government and your government sets your international and military policies. So if that is your reason for being upset then say that in your original blog. Don't go blaming overseas companies just because they are better able to operate your businesses. Indeed their ability to do so means that your jobs are retained, that technology advances, that the monies they earn get pumped back into your economy thus stimulating growth across your country. Surely that is a good thing isn't it? And lets not forget that those tax dollars are buying leading edge technology that hopefully keeps your men and women alive when fighting the wars your government wishes to undertake. Of course we could always follow your logic and close the facility, deepress the area for employment, slow your weakening economy even further and leave your brave men and women exposed in the field of danger - interesting logic you have Chris!! So I simply suggest you may want to take a deep breath and rethink your argument(s) if indeed you really have one.

I'll be completely honest. I've probably been on both sides of this for reasons I'll explain. I feel like I always try to do things for the right reasons, but I know I'm far from perfect. I'm always willing to help out and volunteer my time, talent etc.. and look for nothing in return. But there have been times where I feel like being a nice guy has hurt me. There is a certain friend of my brother's. This person ran for a political race and as a favor to my brother, I designed her business cards, campaign signs, brochures etc.. because she needed them done and didn't have the budget to hire a designer. So instead of letting her or a family member design her campaign materials in word, my brother asked if I'd mind, and I said of course not as long as I'm not busy. So I did that no charge and I've done a few other favors, but a few months back, she was part of the boosters of an athletic team at one of the schools for her child. She told the other booster members about me because they were going to cut paste and photocopy the programs. So they approached me about designing them and thats when I felt like I was kind of being taken advantage of. They were charging for ads in the program, going to charge for the program, pay someone to print the program but wanted me to design a 50-page color program for free. So I said I would get back to them. I thought about it and emailed back saying I would give them a huge discount on my hourly graphic design rate and design it for them for $250. I felt like with the quality they were getting back and in the time frame they needed it in, I was giving them a great deal, and really, I was going to be making nothing for the amount of billable hours it would take up. They shot that down almost immediately and went ahead and photocopied it. They ended up not making much of an investment and came out with a crap product, which in turn didn't sell much and had a bunch of angry parents and advertisers. That's not the only time where I felt being a nice guy has been taken advantage of. I have taken on several contract webdesign, graphic design and copywriting jobs and some of them for pretty big clients and events. They decided to use my work but not pay me a dime. One of them, a boxing promoter for a well-publicized fight on ESPN, told me I should have been happy that my work, including the fight banner and program, was seen by so many people. Sure, maybe if it had my name, website or something on it. I guess a lot of that was me being naive and believing people when they said I would get paid when the job was completed or the event was over. So now, I'm a little less naive and when I take contract work, if it's not for people I trust, I request payment along the way for work I have done up to a certain point and they don't receive a complete product until I have been paid in full. I feel like maybe that's affected who I am a bit in that sometimes I ask the same question you did above. The answer is that there are a lot of both types, the types that don't rob a liquor store because it's not right and some that don't because of the consequences and there are probably an equal amount in a gray area in between. I try to surround myself with the people that don't for the right reasons and I'm happy to say that I have a lot of really good people in my circle. Anyway, that was probably a much longer response than you were looking for.

I know plenty of people who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Now, for those who say they will help, but then it does not materialize, perhaps some of those situations simply reflect the person overextending themselves. I struggle with that on a regular basis, and I hope most of the time I really do what I say I am going to do!

Thanks Davebo,

It certainly didn't appear new - I just had never noticed it. Until the past couple of months, I rarely traveled that stretch of highway and it may be that the truck perched on the mound of earth is relatively new.

That facility has been there for at least 15 years and has almost always had large numbers of military vehicles, mostly truck type vehicles.

We may indeed be in for a long war, but that isn't necessarily an indicator of it.

Wow... a blind person calling me myopic. Either this is a clear attempt at obfuscation or you are the one who cannot see the forest for the trees. This has nothing to do with the company being British or foreign investment. It is the idea of many military vehicles stacked up and ready to go.

To follow your logic, we should welcome the US jobs... but who is paying for those jobs? US taxpayers. I would rather have those tax dollars going to jobs that improve our country - or better yet - return the money to the citizens.

Bottom line is the stockpile of military vehicles... that is not a good thing.

Grow Up. If a British contractor is based on US soil then I think if you had spent a minute more thinking about the situation rather than disappearing into a cloud of illogical views, that you may have realised that the jobs in the US are delivered by US citizens! Moreover, in an increasingly global market environment, British companies are no more expanding onto US markets than US companies are expanding into offshore markets - or is that ok by your thinking?? Oh and lets now look at the anti-British slant to your message. Aren't the British essentially your countries last remaining friend? In which case you may wish to embrace their investment into your economy. Certainly without foreign investment your markets would be even more worse off than if they were left to Bush's economic programme. Indeed this investment is sustaining jobs in the USA. So I think you may want to re-evaluate your myopic argument.

Her voice is annoying, she cant act, she makes the most lame jokes on the universe and probably paid people to laugh. She makes fun of celebrities that had been made fun of a milliontimes like paris hilton. Who cant make fun of Paris ? its just not original. She sucks massive whale cock.

The major problem with Sarah Silverman is she defies self-deprication...and thus through her own personal endevor becomes a bloated head of self-importance...this is why she fails at being funny but appeals to others so self-important... she is the Paris Hilton of comedians...not funny... not talented...but established... and almost unremovable by the fatherly culture who fucked her onto shows like SNL and now apologize with her hack appearence on her own Comedy Central show...

I have had the service of webxites for 3 or 4 years and the only reason I am still with them is to get them to release my domain name and because I have not had the time to rebuild my site until just recently (I have lost thousands of dollars in sales and revenue because of them).
Otherwise I should have been gone a long time ago. They made all sorts of false promises to me about my shopping cart and credit card acceptance was included (a BIG LIE!) So I got my own credit card service so I could at least process orders through the shopping cart. That did not work because they failed to renew the secure certificate which I found out this year expired in 2006. No wonder I had so few orders. When I contacted their supposed customer service I was given repeated assurances by the customer rep that this would get taken care of. After that I than forwarded numerous emails with this request with no response at all. Now I find out that my website is usually down over the weekends, but they still know how to charge my credit card on a timely basis. If I was anyone even considering this company I would run away from them as soon as possible.

I am astonished that the Fed's or the Attorney General has not taken them to court and thrown the whole lot of them in jail for being rip-offs. The article in Entrepreneurs Magazines mentioned can be purchased by any company who wants to look good and I am astonished they have not been shut down for publishing these lies.

I hope to be rid of them very soon and I recommend anyone else to stay as far away as possible!

All three of them are part of the same cabal - or more correctly all controlled by the same cabal - the same group that would "cause" the phone call at 3AM.

Ummm.....this ad backfires on her. In a world crisis I would much rather John McCain answer that phone than Shrillery or B Hussein Obama.

That "luxurious new digs" comment was meant to be very much tongue-in-cheek. It is not a great apartment... but what I said about San Marcos is 100% true.

And yes, Michael it is Autumn Chase. Good to be a part of Newstreamz and this very cool area of Texas.

That has to be Autumn Chase. I lived in those apartments for a year about two years ago before I moved into a house with my brother in Martindale. I actually liked them and had my brother not bought a house, I probably would have stayed there. Who would've known you'd end up being COO and have a place here when we first started talking about San Marcos on facebook a few months back. I'm glad someone that shares my passion for new media (sports as well, but maybe not as important) will be leading us at Newstreamz. Congrats once again.

The way he approached this was refreshing, especially for a pro athlete. Because of this, he seemed a lot more believable and sincere in his apology. I'd much rather see someone show he's human and make mistakes than deny, deny, deny. I'd have no problem rooting for Pettitte after this, but Clemens is another story. His character has definitely taken a hit. It's not like I condone taking performing enhancing drugs, but I also know that I'm not perfect and have made my share of mistakes.

Globalization read "the hammer's coming down on ya bitch!" and it'll hurt... hurt my wallet that is...

you got me with Jimmy Madz's quote.
