The final day in the City of Angels and I decided to do a little sight-seeing. I first decided to run by Venice Beach and check out the haps… it was a bit early when I arrived so I skipped the boardwalk and headed down the beach for a walk. It was pretty cool out with a great breeze coming in off the Pacific so I walked a heck of a lot farther than I had intended. I took the shot on the pier by using the timer on the camera and wedging it into a cranny on the rail… very Batman-esque!
By the time I got back to Venice things were really kicking – there was a game of rugby on the beach – throng of tourists and locals along the boardwalk – and tons of sights, sounds, and even smells. There were hip-hop artists selling their CDs, pickup games of basketball ala White Men Can’t Jump, pumped up behemoths at Muscle Beach, and every type of street artist and craftsman imaginable.
Does anyone else remember the movies this cat has been in? I seem to remember him in a few as he is a staple of Venice Beach. The name is Harry Perry.
And what would a trip to LA be without some gang tags? When you take the time to look at tagging as an art form, it is actually pretty cool stuff.
I rolled down Santa Monica Boulevard singing “All I Wanna Do is Have Some Fun.” It is amazing how many songs reference California locations, streets, neighborhoods etc…
Overall, it was a lot of fun. I topped off the day with a trip to Car’s Jr. for a burger. I had seen them advertised on the Lakers’ broadcasts and always wanted to try one… the recent Paris Hilton ad didn’t hurt either.
It wasn’t anything special…. uh, the burger.
