I am seriously digging HBO’s new drama TRUEBLOOD.  Think of it as the ‘redneck vampire comedy tour.’  The writing is extremely witty and laugh-out-loud funny at times, while the action and drama are interesting enough to keep you leaning forward in your easy chair.  These Louisiana vampires are nothing like the Anne Rice breed.  One of the coolest things is that in this setting, vampires are not only common but are fighting for civil rights.

Anna Paquin plays Sookie Stackhouse – a waitress with the ability to hear what people are thinking becomes involved with the new vampire in town, Bill Compton (played perfectly by Stephen Moyer) and the hilarity ensues.  Okay, so its not really a comedy, but damn there is some funny stuff smattered throughout.  I just love caricatures of rednecks and TRUEBLOOD is chock full of ’em.

If you haven’t caught any of this series yet, the good news is that you can watch them all online at HBO.
