DarkInvasion hc cWhat a compelling read – Dark Invasion: 1915: Germany’s Secret War and the Hunt for the First Terrorist Cell in America by Howard Blum is a fascinating look at yet another relatively unknown series of events in our history.  I don’t know whether I should be shocked that there is so much we are not told by our leaders or that we don’t really look into anything when the evidence is right in front of us.

This is a true story of how Germany systematically conspired and carried out terrorist attacks on the United States PRIOR TO WORLD WAR I.  Yes, well before Hitler’s Nazi party, the United States suffered hundreds of bomb attacks and even biological attacks at the hands of German spies.

As much as the USA wanted to stay neutral in WWI – selling billions of dollars worth of ammunition, explosives and equipment – the evidence of Germany’s terrorist attacks was too much to ignore.

The story of New York Police Department captain Tom Tunney’s dogged pursuit of evidence that led to the capture and punishment of large numbers of these conspirators is something that I could see as a great movie.   It reads a bit slow at times, but I couldn’t put it down.
