Interstellar looked interesting back when I saw the previews. The marketing campaign hit shortly thereafter and then I was kinda thinking it might not be that good. (What can I say, for a marketing guy – I sure get anti-marketing a lot. haha)
When we finally went to see Interstellar, my first impression proved true. I thought it was a fresh take on space/sci-fi films. From the matter-of-fact explanation of the current worldwide situation to the journey into space – it was all believable.
Matthew McConaughey has really grown up as an actor. I’m not talking about his aging… I am talking about his skill. I find I like him more in each film I see. The rest of the cast did a great job as well. Even, Anne Hathaway (I’ve never been a big fan) was superb in the film. The only thing that really hurt it was when Matt Damon showed up. Again, he did a fine job in the role, I just wasn’t expecting to see him so his appearance took me out of the story with, “Whoa… that’s Matt Damon.”
I want to watch this one again because there were so many aspects that didn’t fit our typical space film genres and I would love to see all the things I missed. I have mentioned several times this year that 2014 was weak in terms of movies, but it appears to be finishing strongly.
RATING 9 out of 10
