I am a big fan of Spotify and because I have the free account, I always click on the ad when the offer for 30 minutes of free music comes up for watching.  I am so glad I did.

The ad for Tullamore D.E.W. Irish whiskey is hauntingly beautiful and touching while still being uplifting.  It made me first want to run out and figure out who was doing the soundtrack.  Turns out is a band called Tullamore Celtic Band.  In my search for the artist however, I discovered a whole backstory to the commercial that is fascinating.

The commercial, created by a boutique New York ad firm, Opperman Weiss, first appeared a year ago and clocked in at 3 minutes!  It created a buzz in the advertising world and following the Spotify plays, it has been getting even more attention.  The Colbert Report ran a 30-second version of the ad in their series finale and it is slotted to appear all over in prime time soon.

I don’t drink and the product doesn’t interest me in the least… the art however is great.  It just goes to show that if you step out of the box and create something beautiful, it will get noticed.
