Interesting facts from 2016

  • It took 12 more plays to make the top 20 this year than last
  • #20 this year would have come in #9 last year
  • Train is in the list for the fifth straight year (#1 for 2012 & 2013)
  • Johnny Cash made the list for the third straight year
  • Maroon 5 skyrocketed from #16 all the way to #1 with a ton more plays
  • The #1 artist last year Billy Joel (117 plays) would only have come in #3 this year
  • Keith Urban gets his highest finish ever
  • Chris Stapleton is the highest debuting artist this year as I really started listening to the Traveler album
  • Billy Joel, last year’s #1 artist dropped 4 spots to #5 – he continues to be the #3 all-time
  • P!nk also dropped 4 spots this year – she remains my #1 all-time
  • Zac Brown Band always a top artist for me, also slipped 4 spots this year
  • Roger Miller (my #2 all-time) climbed two spots this time around
  • Rod Stewart climbed 7 spots
  • Bob Seger made it into the chart for the first time since 2013 I found some old MP3s of his greatest hits albums
  • George Strait hasn’t been in the list since 2014 when he was #8 with 50 plays
  • Tim McGraw although always on my playlists made it into the Top 20 for the first time
  • Bruno Mars hit the chart for the first time since 2013 when he was #13 with 71 plays
  • 9 of the Top 20 were not in last year’s Top 20 and NONE of them are new artist
  • Half (10) of the chart is made up of Country artists – same as last year.  In addition, 3 of the top 4 are Country
