Have you noticed Halo Top ice cream? It is touted as low-calorie, high-protein, and low-sugar.  It is definitely all that. We are talking the closest thing to health food I have ever seen in the form of ice cream. They are only 240 – 320 kcal per pint.  No, NOT PER SERVING…. PER PINT!

We tried the following two flavors:

Chocolate Almond Crunch – The first thing I noted was a strong almond flavor. Then, it became too strong and a bit more like almond extract than almonds. It was okay, but that lingering flavor didn’t make me want to keep eating. (I guess that could be seen as a good thing though – haha)

Oatmeal Cookie – I like oatmeal cookies well enough, but it is never one I think of when ordering a cookie. This flavor of ice cream though really works. It tasted surprisingly similar to an actual oatmeal cookie. I also really liked the actual oatmeal included. It gave a texture that was missing in the other flavor.

I have seen them at Whole Foods, Central Market and HEB (a very limited variety) so far which means they should be close to you.

Am I over-the-moon about Halo Top? That may be a bit hyperbolic because although I like ice cream, I don’t really have it that often. What I can say however, is that I would like to try some of the other flavors (peanut butter) and definitely could see Halo Top being the brand that stays in the freezer just in case I get a hankering.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried Halo Top?
