Why I canceled cable again

I had gone quite some time without any cable but a few years back went ahead and added it again when some good promotions were happening.  Also, I have written about calling my various service providers and renegotiating regularly. In the past, I have had quite a bit of success with the cable company in particular. I was able to get them to give me a $30/month discount one year and then add another hundred channels or so for $3 last year.  In the end though, I just don’t watch it enough.

When I took a look at what I really watch, with the exception of The Walking Dead, it is all pretty much Netflix and Amazon shows. Walking Dead just hit their season finale this past weekend and even if it were the start of the season, one show is certainly not worth the monthly cost.

Even with all the bundled discounts, I save about $45 a month. They offered to leave me with network TV, but I actually NEVER watched that anyway.

Amazon, I originally got just because it was included with Prime and thought I might use it.  Turns out, I don’t order a ton of stuff on Amazon so don’t really use the free shipping much.  In addition, there is just not a ton I am interested in watching there either.  Yes, I find a ton of oddball documentaries late at night when I’m not sleepy. I’m still debating whether I should keep Amazon or not.

For the record, I have Netflix & Amazon that I pay for.  I have the Roku and Chromecast devices that I use to stream content.

What are your thoughts?  What do you subscribe to?  What devices do you use? What is it costing?
