First, let me say I am not a bit Bill O’Reilly fan, not because I disagree with his politics, but because he comes across as a bit off an @ss at times. I don’t like mean people. That aside, I read the book Bill O’Reilly’s Legends and Lies: The Patriots by David Fisher and Bill O’Reilly.
I have to tell you that it is very good. I was expecting a political themed angle to this book about our founding fathers. It wasn’t that at all. It was a good book with interesting and often little-known stories about the likes of George Washington, Paul Revere, Ben Franklin, John Adams etc… the whole rogues gallery of FF.
It kept me interested from start to finish. I couldn’t help but thing, “gee, I wish my high school history classes had been more like this.” (Yes, my inside voice uses gee, gosh and a whole host of fun phrases.)
If you enjoy history, you will love this book. If the thought of learning more American history is like nails on a chalkboard, try the audiobook version. I think you’ll end up a convert.
