Okay the schtick of 15:17 to Paris is that the true story is actually acted out onscreen by the real people involved in a terrorist’s attempt to overtake a high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris. The Clint Eastwood directed tale tells the story of what happened on the train with flashbacks to flesh out the characters.

Yes, as expected, some of the acting is not the best. But you know what? It doesn’t really matter. There are no plot twists, no big surprises, nothing that comes across as “Hollywood formula.” And that really helps drive home the importance of telling this story. It is not make-believe. It is not fantasy. And while there are no characters in skin-tight suits wielding hammers or shields, there are super heroes.

This film celebrates the hero in simply doing the right thing. Yes, the actions told about in this film are huge. These real-life heroes took decisive and dramatic action. They didn’t hesitate to “get involved” and take action. They are a great example not that we need to rush headlong into danger, but that when faced with a myriad tough decisions each day, we should take action and choose the right.

Thank you to Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Mark Moogalian, and Chris Norman for the example you set and the lives you saved. If for no other reason than to show your support for those involved, go see 15:17 to Paris.
