I was excited when I saw the previews for Jack Ryan starring John Krasinki. Amazon Prime did a great job of promoting the thing a month before it came out. I have become a fan of Krasinski through movies like 13 Hours and A Quiet Place. (I never watched The Office) By the time Jack Ryan premiered, I was raring to go.

We settled down to binge on the thing and from the start, I found it interesting. It didn’t really have the action I expected, but it was interesting enough to make me want to see the next episode.

I think somewhere around episode 5 is when I realized… I was totally thinking it was going to be a Jack Reacher series. I was expecting Tom Cruise-like action-packed fighting sequences. I had my Jacks confused!

Despite the disappointment over the much slower storyline and minimal butt-kicking, Jack Ryan was good. It was much more thought-provoking and actually engaged the brain instead of just the adrenaline. Yes, there was political correctness spread liberally throughout but the writing was good and it kept me interested. It is a good series… just not Jack Reacher. 🙂
