Breaking Cover: My Secret Life in the CIA and What it Taught Me About What’s Worth Fighting For by Michel Rigby Assad started out a little slow but I hung in and am glad I did. It turns out this was a really interesting tale of having to be a walking contradiction.

The tale of Rigby Assad’s career as a CIA operative is as interesting and current as it is informational. I was impressed as much by her willingness to talk openly about her religious faith as she is about the frighteningly difficult job and situations she found herself facing.

Her faith in her Christianity and fortitude to do what was necessary to assist persecuted Christians in the Middle East is inspirational. Would that we all were so devoted to our beliefs and willing to stand up for them in life-threatening situations.

As an author, Michele Rigby Assad is decent… not great but not bad at all. Her story more than makes up for the occasional repetitiveness.
