I recently watched the M. Night Shyamalan film Glass starring Bruce Willis, James MacAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson. I have to say that the parts that were good, were really good. The parts that were bad were just more boring than anything else.
Yes, being a Shyamalan film, it had a twist at the end.. and yes, it was a good one. Yes, it was a super hero film and no, it wasn’t what you have come to expect. If you have seen the earlier films in this trilogy, Unbreakable and Split you understand that these are not films about buff heroes flying around in tights.
As I mentioned, the parts that were good, were really good. The fight sequences, the tension… all good stuff. Where it fell short was in spending the middle (almost half the film) talking – lots and lots of talking. Yes, it was a thinking fan’s film, but a little more superhero action would have been good to break things up.
Was it worth watching? Sure. Was it worth watching again? Likely not.
