I had never heard of the 2015 film True Story starring Jonah Hill, James Franco and Felicity Jones. It is the story of a New York Times writer that discovers a conman murderer had been using his name as he fled from justice I wasn’t sure it was going to be any good and although I have been a bit over Jonah Hill for a while and James Franco is just odd, I started watching.

At first, I wasn’t sure Jonah Hill could pull off a role like this (one without a hint of comedy.) It turns out that once you stop seeing him as instigator, Seth (Superbad) you see his solid acting chops. This film is a bit of a psychological thriller and entirely enthralling. Even though I started watching it pretty late, thinking I would see if it was worth watching in full later, I stuck with it to the very end.

I really like when I discover a film like this – one that I never heard about when it was first released and then come to like.
