When A Quiet Place came out in 2018, it was a pleasant surprise. I was so impressed that I not only did a review but even recorded a podcast. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were such a perfect pairing that the audience felt palpable fear throughout. So did A Quiet Place Part II live up to the first one? Actually it did!

All too often, the sequel is a simple cash-grab playing off the surprise success of the original. With one of the leads, Krasinski dead at the end of the first, could the new one rely enough on Blunt to carry it off? Could they possible sell the tension of the first? Yes and Yes!

I’ve been in love with Emily Blunt since Edge of Tomorrow I think because she is so believable in her roles and her acting is unparalleled. AQP II just adds to that impressive resume. She did a great job as usual. In fact, she was so believable that you could overlook an occasional bit of overacting by others in the films. A newcomer to the franchise, Cillian Murphy, did a good job and seemed to slide right into his role.

If you liked the first one, this is a must-watch. If you haven’t seen either – sorry for the spoiler about Krasinski but go watch them both now!
