I had heard nothing about the Netflix series Sweet Tooth until walking through the living room and seeing it on. A kid with antlers can’t help but grab your attention. The series (adapted from a comic book or graphic novel – not sure which) didn’t immediately seem like something I would watch, as the acting seemed a bit subpar, but I found myself watching.

Several episodes later, I was wondering why I was still watching… but I didn’t move. I think it was because I was having a good time making fun of the bad acting and the story tropes pulled from more famous works. In the end, I did not watch the whole thing but they did manage to capture quite a bit of my time.

The politics of the series is what finally drove me away from the screen. I have come to expect a slant to just about any media but they don’t have to consistently pound it into your head. When it moves from a story with a world view to a propaganda piece, you lose me.

If you have kids, the series seems like a good fit. Check your mind at the door and you will find it interesting. Ignore the poor acting (by roughly 80% of the actors) and you will find it interesting. Ignore the pedantic writing and you will find it interesting. Put away your critical eye for direction and you will find it interesting. Put away this series though and you will likely find something better to watch.
